Chapter 9. (Caution. Wet Paint)
You've heard the expression "about as exciting as watching paint dry"? Well let me tell you, I now know how exciting "watching paint dry" can be. I got to be in the paint booth with Cory from start to finish, watching my Camaro go from primer yellow to Ermine White! That was about as exciting as it gets! Well, at least for chapter 9.
After wiping down all of the panels to remove any dust, the first coat was a white sealer. Cory then applied three coats of Ermine White, followed by four coats of Hyper Clear.
If your keeping score, it's...
1 coat of polyester primer.
1 coat of
urethane primer.
1 coat of white sealer.
3 coats of Ermine White.
4 coats of Hyper Clear.
=
10 coats of paint.
The front quarters, hood, doors, trunk lid, header, lower valance and cowl vent grill will be in the paint booth on another day. Then all of the freshly painted panels will be reinstalled on the Camaro.
